So I know this idea has been discussed several times but just this weekend I was watching power block (hah no I'm not getting sucked in to their product placement) and I noticed one of the street rig jeeps that was built had a lexan window that was clear coated or something to prevent scratching. The show boasted that it would break and scratch less than real glass. I would love to pull off a hundred or so pounds especially from the higher areas of the car (effectively lowering the cg) all the while having stock window feel and function. I forgot the name of the place but clearly it was a production thing with some newer technology if its used on windshields for a street driven jeep. As a caveat I'm guessing there are no regs about lexan on the jeep because it has a soft top and you could just cut through it to rescue someone.
Anyway, if you put it on the Z, which I'm pretty sure is illegal, could you install it without riveting (just glue like normal glass)? Not only is riveting ugly it would give away to the cops you aren't using dot approved glass. Also would I really be putting myself at extra risk? I figure if jaws of life have to pull me out they could rip a door or T top off anyway. You can defintitely feel the difference of 100lbs in a car (racers adage 100lbs= 1 tenth) and pulling it from the front and higher portion of the car would equalize weight distribution and help roll coupling by decreasing the moment from roll center to cg.
PS- I'm not expecting to get too much support for this one
